Pilates is...

 

Pilates is a system of over 600 exercises done on a mat and also on specialized, spring loaded equipment. With endless possibilities, Pilates is an ever changing, never boring, fun approach to exercise and health. 

 

 

The exercises revolve around principles of centering, breath, concentration, fluidity, and control. The precision of the method re-educates neuromuscular patterns in the body to bring alignment to the joints, decompression to the spine, deep core strength, increased body awareness and improved posture. 

 

 

As you increase strength where you were once weak and flexibility where you were once holding tension, your body becomes more uniformly developed. Achieving this balance reduces pain, allows for better breathing and circulation, and increases the overall performance of your body.
